Cantalapiedra todavia no cuenta con la nueva tecnoligia digital llamadaTDT, esta nueva "televisión" cuenta con una amplia gama de canales a disposición del televidente de forma gratuita, a partir de un receptor que podemos encontrar en cualquier tienda de electrodomesticos. Ya que no podemos disfrutar de una frecuencia óptima a nivel analógico, lo mas razonable sería pensar en acoger y establecer esta nueva manera de ver la televisión.
Según televisiondigital.es, el relanzamiento de la TDT en España se realizó el 30 de Noviembre de 2005, con la asignación de las frecuencias de ámbito nacional que estaban disponibles desde el cierre de QuieroTV y el inicio de emisiones de los canales que se sumaban a los que ya estaban emitiendo desde el 2002, para totalizar una oferta de 20 canales nacionales en TDT (5 de RTVE, 3 de Telecinco, Antena 3 y Sogecable y 2 de Veo TV, Net TV y La Sexta). Por medio del Plan Técnico Nacional de la Televisión Terrestre, aprobado por Real Decreto 944/2005 de 29 de julio, se fija el 3 de abril de 2010 como fecha de cese de las emisiones de televisión analógica terrestre. ¿Puedo ver la TDT?
En la actualidad, más del 85% de la población española se encuentra en zonas con cobertura TDT. Los radiodifusores están aumentando la red de centros emisores que emiten en tecnología digital y, por lo tanto, cada vez es mayor el número de poblaciones desde las que se puede acceder a la TDT. El siguiente mapa muestra las zonas que disponen de cobertura TDT asociada a los distintos canales TDT de ámbito nacional.
Como podemos apreciar en el mapa, en la provincia de salamanca esta prácticamente de color blanco, esto significa que la cobertura de tdt es casi nula. Solo en Salamanca capital y alrededores pueden recibir una calidad de señal media/alta.
